Lucía Urbán (PhD student) completed a research internship at the Laboratory of Biocatalysis and Biotransformations within the Faculty of Chemistry at the University of the Republic (Uruguay). The research stay was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Agustina Vila in a leading academic environment within the field.
During her internship, Lucía focused on a research line exploring the ability of natural enzymes to catalyze unconventional reactions. Specifically, the project addressed the following question: Can natural enzymes catalyze the cleavage of the carbon-silicon bond?
This experience not only strengthened the researcher’s scientific training but also consolidated international collaborative ties, reaffirming LUMEN-Lab’s commitment to global outreach and the pursuit of emerging research areas
